Sections: Open, Junior Major, Junior Minor.
 

Entry Fee: £10.00. Additional pay to play fee £15.00 Open/£3.00 Junior Major for players who are not ECF members at Gold level or above.

 

Entries on the day will be subject to an additional £5.00 fee. If entrants withdraw before the event their entry fee will be refunded less a £2.50 administration charge.

 

Ratings: All sections will be ECF rated. Ratings will be taken from the ECF's latest revision of the September 2024 list. (If you do not have an ECF rating, please give any other official rating, or, if you have none, provide other evidence of your playing strength, e.g. other tournament results.) Please note that it is a condition of entry that players agree to their rating information being published on the ECF website.


Trophies: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, best performance prize in each section.
The best performance prize in each section will be awarded to the player with the best performance relative to rating (W-We). Unrated players may not win a best performance trophy.

Time controls: 20 mins + 10 sec increment Open and Junior Major, 10 mins +5 sec increment Junior Minor (Junior Minor: two games per round with alternating colours).

 

Late arrival: Players arriving more than ten minutes after the start time of any round will lose by default unless they can be re-paired satisfactorily. Players whose opponents have not arrived should expect to be re-paired if this can be done.

 

Tie-breaks: Sum of progressive scores followed by sum of opponents' scores.

 

     
 

Qualification for entry: Players in the Junior Major and Junior Minor sections should be under 18 on 1st September 2024. Players in the Junior Minor section need to be unrated or have an ECF rating of below 1100.

 
     

 

Pairings: Pairings will be made using Swiss Manager.

 

Rating: Results in the Open and Junior Major sections only will be submitted for ECF and FIDE rapidplay rating. Players’ ECF ratings from the September 2024 list will be used for determining allocation to sections, tournament pairings, and best performance prizes.

 

Catering: A wide range of food and drinks will be available at the venue.

 

Car parking: Car parking is available on site.

 

Other: Parents/guardians/teachers are responsible for their children throughout the entire duration of the event. The submission of an entry form and payment of the entry fee denotes acceptance that the organisers' decision is final in all matters to do with the congress. All players shall consent to their details being shown on the Witney Chess Club website. Those wishing to withhold their consent shall not be permitted to play in the congress. The organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry without explanation.
